How to do it

  1. Place your left knee and hand on a bench, right foot flat on the floor.
  2. Let a dumbbell hang from your right hand under your shoulder.
  3. Brace your core and keep your back flat like a table.
  4. Pull the dumbbell to the side of your ribcage, driving your elbow up and back.
  5. Lower under control to a full stretch. Complete reps, then switch sides.

Form cues

  • โœ“Squeeze the shoulder blade at the top
  • โœ“Elbow travels close to the ribs
  • โœ“Neutral spine, no rotation

Common mistakes

  • โœ—Twisting the torso to move more weight
  • โœ—Shrugging the shoulder to the ear
