How to do it

  1. Stand tall holding dumbbells at your sides (or hands on hips).
  2. Step forward with your right leg into a long stride.
  3. Lower until both knees are at 90°, back knee just above the floor.
  4. Drive through the front heel to step through into the next lunge on the other leg.

Form cues

  • Torso upright
  • Front shin roughly vertical
  • Step long enough that your back knee lands under your hip

Common mistakes

  • Short choppy steps
  • Front knee caving in
  • Leaning forward
